SHERIFF'S MESSAGE- COVID-19

03/23/2020

MESSAGE FROM SHERIFF HEBERT

As of today, March 23, 2020, Allen Parish has had two reported cases of COVID-19.  Both were reported to be inmates in the Federal Detention Center in Oakdale.

I want to reassure everyone that there will be no interruption or reduction in law enforcement protection from the Sheriff's Office or any of the police departments in the Parish.  I, and all of the Law Enforcement leaders, met today and we are fully committed both individually and collaboratively to making sure the residents of Allen Parish are fully protected.

Further, for those with loved ones in the Allen Parish Jail, my medical staff has implemented stringent anti-viral procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of those incarcerated.  I have arranged with the phone company to give every inmate one free 15 minute call a week to contact friends or family.

The Allen Parish Sheriff's Office encourages everyone to take steps against possible infection.  Quarantine procedures are voluntary and I strongly encourage everyone to take every precaution to reduce or eliminate unnecessary exposure.  The latest Order of the Governor can be found at https://gov.louisiana.gov/index.cfm/page/93

For anyone unsure as to whether their employment is impacted by the Governor's Order that goes into effect this afternoon at 5 p.m., please go to IDENTIFYING CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE DURING COVID-19 for more information.

We will present new information as it becomes available.
