  As we are concerned for all things around us in these trying times, we sympathize with you with the concern for your families and your property. The Sheriff's office and Office of Homeland Security is working diligently to assure that all needs are met during this time. The heavy smoke and burning smell you are experiencing is from fires, which are around our parish.

In the interest of trying not to tax our fire departments and their personnel, who have worked tirelessly during this time, we are asking that if you have a concern about the heavy smoke, please keep in mind that this is from fires in other parishes at the moment. Please report outside burning or if you see actual flames in the meantime. Your concern for the smoke in the area is well known and warranted, due to the situation we are in with the drought and heat.
